I never really liked taking my cows to the sale barn. That was the hardest part about being a rancher. You’re the only one they know and they are looking up at you.

  • Renee King-Sonnen & Tommy Sonnen • Featured in the Film

Renee & Tommy’s journey to becoming vegans can be traced back to Rowdy Girl. This baby calf, purchased by Tommy, was intended to be a way of Renee engaging with livestock rearing. Little did he know, Tommy put in motion a chain of events that would lead towards Renee’s journey to veganism. This change of heart inspired her to raise over $30,000, buy Tommy’s herd, and initiate the first ever farm transformation in Texas. Since then, their flock has grown to over 125 rescues and they’ve launched the Rowdy Girl Sanctuary and the Rancher Advocacy Program to help others navigate the complex process of exiting animal agriculture.
